YOUR DATA, YOUR DEVICE

Privacy policy

The full Flight Check'd privacy policy, effective September 25, 2026.

Effective date: September 25, 2026
Last updated: September 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Flight Check'd handles information. It covers:

  • the Flight Check'd app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch (the "App"), and
  • the Flight Check'd website at https://flightcheckd.com, including its support and privacy pages (the "Website").

Together we call these the "Services". Flight Check'd is developed and operated by Logan Hawkins ("we", "us", "our"), who is responsible for your personal information and can be reached at support@flightcheckd.com.

The short version

  • The App does not collect, sell or share your personal data. Your checklists, progress and settings stay on your device.
  • There are no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking in the App.
  • We only receive information about you if you choose to email us, and we use it only to help you.
  • If we ever add optional paid upgrades, a tip jar or iCloud sync, Apple handles the payments and your iCloud data. We never see your payment details, and we can't read your synced checklists.

1. Information the App does not collect

The App has no accounts or sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not make network requests to us or to any third party, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not collect your name, location, contacts, device identifiers, or any record of how you use the App.

2. Information stored on your device

To work properly, the App saves the following only on your device:

  • checklists you create, import, paste or customise
  • your pinned aircraft and recently viewed checklists
  • your progress through checklists
  • your settings (for example voice callouts, night lighting and your chosen app icon)

We cannot see or access this information. You can remove it at any time by deleting your checklists in the App or deleting the App. It may be included in your device's own iCloud or computer backups, which Apple manages under its privacy policy.

3. Device features the App uses

  • Voice callouts use Apple's on-device speech synthesis to read checklist items aloud. Nothing is recorded and the App never uses your microphone.
  • Keep Screen Awake stops your screen from dimming while you work through a checklist.
  • Alternate app icons change the App's icon on your device only.

The App does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, calendar, health data or other sensitive device data.

4. Feedback, issue reports and support emails

When you tap Send Feedback or Report an Issue, the App opens your own email app with a pre-filled message. It may include:

  • the App version and your device's operating system version
  • the aircraft, checklist or item you were viewing

Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it. If you email us, from the App, the Website or directly, we receive your email address, your name if your email includes it, and whatever you write or attach. We use this only to reply to you and to fix or improve the Services. We do not add you to mailing lists, and we do not sell or share your email with anyone.

5. Sharing checklists

When you export or share a checklist (for example through AirDrop, Files, Messages or Mail), it goes only where you choose to send it, using Apple's standard sharing features. We don't receive a copy.

6. The Website

The Website provides information, support and this policy. It does not require an account.

  • Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the referring page, and the date and time. It is used to deliver the Website, keep it secure and fix problems, and is kept only for a limited time.
  • Cookies and analytics. The Website does not use analytics, advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which may set a short-lived, strictly necessary security cookie and run an automated bot check to protect the site from abuse. If we ever add analytics, we will use a privacy-focused, aggregated tool, update this policy, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
  • Contact. If you email us through the Website, Section 4 applies.
  • Links. The Website may link to other sites, such as the App Store. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

7. Optional future features (only if and when we offer them)

These features are not available as of the date of this policy. If we introduce any of them, this section describes how they will work, and we will update this policy and the App's release notes when they launch.

7.1 One-time upgrade ("Pro") and tip jar

If we offer an optional one-time upgrade or optional tips, all payments are processed by Apple through the App Store using In-App Purchase, under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

  • We never receive or store your name, payment card, billing address or Apple Account details.
  • Apple gives the App a record of the purchase on your device, so it can unlock the features you bought and restore them on your other devices. That check happens on your device.
  • Apple may give us aggregated sales and financial reports. These do not identify you personally.
  • Refunds and purchase history are handled by Apple through your Apple Account.

7.2 iCloud sync

If we offer syncing of checklists and settings across your devices, it will use your own private iCloud storage through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit).

  • Your synced data is stored in your iCloud account, not on our servers, and we cannot access or read it.
  • Apple protects iCloud data in transit and at rest under its privacy policy and security practices.
  • Sync will be optional. You can turn it off in the App or in your device's iCloud settings, and delete synced data from within the App or your iCloud storage settings.

If a future feature ever requires us to collect personal information beyond what is described here, we will explain it clearly and ask for your consent first where required.

8. Apple services (App Store and TestFlight)

The App is distributed through Apple's App Store and TestFlight. Apple may collect information such as downloads, purchases and crash reports under Apple's own privacy policy.

  • If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous usage and crash statistics.
  • If you join our TestFlight beta, Apple shares your name, email address, device information and any feedback, screenshots or crash reports you submit through TestFlight with us, so we can run the beta and fix problems.

9. How and why we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • respond to your questions, feedback and issue reports
  • fix bugs, correct checklist content and improve the Services
  • run beta testing
  • operate, secure and maintain the Website
  • deliver purchases you make, if paid features are offered (processed by Apple)
  • comply with the law

Legal bases (EU/UK and similar laws): we rely on your consent (for example, when you choose to email us), our legitimate interests in supporting and improving the Services and keeping the Website secure, the performance of a contract when you buy an optional upgrade, and legal obligations where applicable.

10. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising (as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA). We do not use your information for targeted advertising or profiling.

We disclose information only:

  • to service providers who help us run the Services, namely our email provider and our Website host and content-delivery network (Cloudflare). They may process information only on our behalf, under confidentiality and security obligations.
  • to Apple, as described in Sections 7 and 8.
  • when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or security of users, the public or us.
  • in connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the App. In that case this policy, or one at least as protective, will continue to apply to your information.

11. Where your information is stored

We are based in Canada. Emails you send us, and Website logs, may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. When your information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by applicable law (such as contractual protections), and it remains protected as described in this policy. Information on your device, or in your iCloud account, stays under your and Apple's control.

12. How long we keep information

  • Data in the App: kept on your device until you delete it or the App.
  • Emails and feedback: kept only as long as needed to respond and resolve your report, and generally deleted within 24 months unless we need them longer to resolve an ongoing issue or meet a legal obligation. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Website logs: kept for a limited period by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
  • Purchase records: held by Apple under its policies. We keep only aggregated reports, as required for tax and accounting.

13. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy (portability)
  • correct inaccurate information
  • delete your information
  • withdraw consent, or object to or restrict certain processing
  • not be discriminated against for exercising your rights
  • complain to a privacy regulator

Because the App doesn't collect personal data, in practice this mostly applies to emails you've sent us. To make a request, email support@flightcheckd.com. We may need to confirm your identity, and we will respond within 30 days or the time the law requires. An authorised agent may act for you where the law allows.

Canada. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25). You may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

United States. Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas) have the rights described above. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not process sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. We honour browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control where required.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss FADP, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the UK Information Commissioner's Office).

Other regions (including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Japan and elsewhere). You have the rights your local law provides. Contact us and we will help.

14. Children

The Services are suitable for general audiences and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the higher age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EU). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Security

Information in the App stays on your device and is protected by your device's own security, such as your passcode, Face ID, Touch ID and device encryption. We protect emails and any information we hold with reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit what we hold to the minimum needed.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services change, for example if we add any feature described in Section 7. We will post the updated policy on the Website and change the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will give notice in the App's release notes or on the Website, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
